Let’s take a look at the pre-startup preparations for a diesel generator set!  

1) Clean any dust, water stains, rust, or other foreign objects attached to the diesel generator set, and remove oil residue and dirt from the air filter;  

2) Conduct a thorough inspection of the entire diesel generator set. All connections should be secure, control mechanisms should operate smoothly, and the crankshaft should rotate freely without any binding;  

3) Check if the cooling system is fully filled with coolant and if the water pump is filled with suction water. Check for any leaks or blockages (including air locks) in the pipes;

4) Check the fuel level in the fuel tank, open the fuel valve, loosen the bleed screw of the high-pressure fuel pump, remove any air from the fuel lines, and tighten the bleed screw;

5) Check that the oil level is between the two marks on the dipstick, and ensure there is sufficient oil in the fuel pump and governor.

6) Inspect the reliability and flexibility of the connection between the governor lever and the oil pump rack, and also check for sufficient engine oil;  

7) Inspect all electrical circuits (including  

charging and starting circuits) to ensure proper connections and good contact;  

8) Inspect all pipe joints in the diesel engine's fuel supply, lubrication, and cooling systems for leaks of water or oil;

9) All components inside the control panel should be complete, clean, undamaged, and secure;

10) Disconnect the silicon rectifier, capacitors, etc., remove the ground wire, and use a 500-volt megohmmeter to measure the insulation resistance between the primary circuit and the rotor winding to ground. The insulation resistance should not be less than 3 megohms. If it is lower, drying measures should be taken;

11) Check that the wiring from the generator to the switch panel is correct and error-free. The load should be connected to the control panel via a double-throw switch and isolated from the grid (the air circuit breaker should be in the short-circuit position; the generator's U, V, and W terminals should correspond to the control panel busbar);

12) Check that the positions of all switches on the control panel are normal. The main switch should be in the open position. For control panels with automatic voltage regulation, the switch should be set to the manual position;

13) The pointers of all instruments (except the frequency meter) should point to zero.
