Radiator water pipe leakage

During the operation of a diesel generator, the internal water temperature of the radiator water pipe may become excessively high, while the external temperature remains low. Additionally, the vibrations caused by the diesel generator can easily lead to water pipe leakage in the radiator. To address water leakage in the generator set's radiator, you can place tobacco fibers into the radiator. Utilizing the pressure from the water circulation system, the tobacco fibers can block the leakage points in the radiator tubes, providing a temporary solution. If the radiator tube leak is severe, cut off the leaking section, apply soap to a cotton ball, and place it over the cut section of the radiator tube. Then, use pliers to flatten the ends of the cut section and roll the edges to secure them, thereby stopping the leak.

Water pump leak

Diesel generators use aluminum water pumps, which may sometimes exhibit poor sealing. The water seal surface should be ground flat, or the water seal should be flipped 180° before installation. If the thrust rubber ring is damaged, swollen, deformed, lacks spring tension, or broken, it should be replaced. During installation, ensure the spring is not compressed too tightly.

Thermostat failure

If the generator experiences abnormally high water temperatures, it is typically due to thermostat failure, which slows down the coolant circulation rate. A new thermostat should be purchased for replacement.

Fan belt cracking solution

If the fan belt of a diesel generator is damaged, the machine should be shut down immediately for replacement. If replacement is not feasible at the moment, drill two small holes at both ends of the broken fan belt, then use thick metal wire to connect the broken belt for emergency use. Note that an appropriate distance should be maintained between the drill holes and the broken edges to prevent the holes from tearing. The metal wire joints should be on the outer side of the belt, and the belt should not be tightened excessively. If the fan belt is severely damaged and cannot be connected, a temporary belt can be made by tying a rope, cloth belt, or leather belt with iron wire. It is particularly important to ensure that the length and thickness match the original belt, and the ends of the rope should be secured in the center.
